At THREAD, we get rid of unwanted hair while you relax in a clean, comfortable, private room. From upper lip to full body we will make sure to remove all the hair as painlessly as possible. In a short time you’ll feel beautifully clean and rejuvenated. For the best result, don’t shave the area being waxed for a week to 10 days before your appointment. If you’re unsure whether your hair is ready for removal, pop in for a quick patch test and we’ll either give you the green light or tell you how much longer to wait.

Honey vs Hard Wax…What’s the difference?

At THREAD, we love and offer both options!

Honey wax (also known as soft wax) is applied to the skin in an extremely thin layer. The wax is then removed by placing a muslin strip on top of it and ripping it off. This wax adheres to the skin (hair just happens to come out with it), therefore it removes layers of dead skin when it is being pulled off. Since honey wax adheres to the skin, when it is pulled off it also pulls at the skin. Some tend to think honey wax hurts a little more than hard wax because of this. This type of wax is very popular because you don’t have to use a lot of it to get the job done and many think the job gets done much faster because you don’t need to wait for the wax to harden.

Hard wax (also known as strip-less wax) is applied to the skin and does not require a strip to be pulled off. Once the wax dries and hardens on its own, it can be removed directly since it is not sticky like soft wax. Hard wax adheres to the hair only, not the skin. This means the wax can go over the same area multiple times without the risk of burning or pulling the skin off with the wax. Hard wax is also much less painful since the wax is not tugging at the skin when it is being removed. Because of this, Hard wax is especially great for sensitive areas like Brazilians, Bikini Lines, Underarms and the Face. Also Hard wax tends to be much less sticky than Honey wax.

Fresh Wax, Always!

At THREAD we never double dip. Fresh honey wax for sensitive skin is poured into individual, disposable cups at the beginning of each session and thrown out after every use. If you have extra sensitive skin, you can request zinc wax for a 10-percent upcharge or try our Hard Wax option. To prevent allergic reactions, we only use non-latex gloves.

Teens are welcome at THREAD as long as a parent is present in the waxing room. (Sorry, no bikini waxes for anyone under 18.) We do not currently offer bikini, Brazilian or buttocks waxing for men. All other services are available for men. Find out more.
